STEPHEN LALLY //

With a keen and meticulous eye for beauty, Stephen Lally is a director with a passion for the fantastical, irreverent and mysterious.

An imaginative film-maker working in commercials and music, Stephen’s work so far has encompassed TV ads, music video and online promos, fashion films and video installations. As a director, his talents in design and illustration bring forth a wealth of additional skills to each production – including costume, set and storyboard artwork . . .

Stephen began his formal film training in The Dublin Institute of Technology, where he specialised in photography and direction. Four years later he saw his graduate film – a short movie musical entitled ‘Lost For Words’ – go on to a host of international film festivals, including picking up an award at the prestigious New York International Independent Film Festival.

Since moving to London, Stephen has worked hard to build up his video portfolio, and hone his flair for direction and design in a variety of projects ranging from video installations to band photography. Stephen first forged ahead with his stylised vision for a diverse range of pop artists, and for clients including Universal Records and Warner Bros. His forays into music video highlight an often tongue in cheek directing flair, and strengths in rich colour palettes, flawless beauty lighting and cinematic framing.

In 2010 his work was profiled in the international arts publication NOOVO Editions, and he also moved into production design with Claire Oakley’s award-winning short film ‘Beautiful Enough’. In 2011 he further diversified into commercial beauty and fashion – directing promo films for Rimmel London, E4 and Special K. In 2012 he proved his ongoing versatility by conceiving and directing fashion films and video installations for Fault Magazine and Volt Cafe, whilst in 2013 he continued to progress into TV commercials with Wella Shockwaves, Dance Central 3 for XBox 360 and Pro:Voke Touch of Silver. His latest commercial beauty campaign is for the rebrand and relaunch of Soft & Gentle in the UK market.

Clients include : Rimmel London, Microsoft, XBox, Procter & Gamble, Channel 4, E4, ITV2, Special K, Casio, Universal Records, Sony Europe, Warner Records Europe, Ministry of Sound, Conehead Management, CMW, MPC, Keyline Brands, Glenmark, Sassy Films & The Outfit.
