"Thoughts While Creating"

We all remember the feeling when we found out that it was a snow day.

The night before we would be talking with all our friends about the weather. Was the storm going to hit our town and if so how much snow were we getting? Our winter clothes were taken down from the closet and our boots were put by the front door. We were instructed on how to use our mittens and how to tie a scarf around our neck.

After school was canceled we would go out into the neighborhood with our snow shovels. First we would shovel the pathway in front of our own house then we would start visiting the neighbors to see if they needed any help. Our friend’s Moms would make us hot chocolate and if we were really lucky we were offered a fresh baked cookie (or two).

By afternoon we would have built snow forts and started at least a half-dozen snow ball fights. Teams were chosen and the last to get hit with a snowball would be the winner. In our modern day society much of this fun has been lost as kids live more as mini-adults than as children.

When the next storm comes your way, sit back and remember what

“A Snow Day” really meant to you.
